Is an ordinary game of baseball or golf not enough for you? Are you are a thrill-seeking adventurer that is up for fast, adrenaline-pumping thrills? Well, assuming you have your health insurance in order, extreme outdoor adventures are not hard to come by in L.A. There are plenty of extreme sports on the land, sea, and air. So for all you adrenaline junkies out there, here are a few intense adventures in Los Angeles guaranteed to get you your extreme sports rush.
Fly a Jet Plane Like a Fighter Ace
Let out your inner jet pilot with a genuine flight in a real jet. Head up to Chino, CA, and sign up for a ride in an L-39 Albatros jet. You can let the certified pilot perform some acrobatic stunts for you, or you can man the controls, and fly the jet yourself. If that’s too much for you, you can always try a simulated cockpit. At the Flight Deck Flight Simulation Center in Anaheim, you can test your mettle in a slightly less extreme fashion (and for a bit less money).
Take a Dive from High in the Sky
For those looking for the ultimate rush of adrenaline, a trip downward from several thousand feet in the air is just the right ticket. Head on over to Perris, CA to take the leap of a lifetime and skydive out of a plane. Looking at Los Angeles from 10,000 feet up is something every extreme junkie must experience at least once in their lifetimes.
Take in a View of LA while Paragliding
Why not enjoy a spectacular view of LA and Malibu from the comfort of a paraglider? Take off from the bluffs above Malibu, and soar off into the Pacific Ocean air. Let an instructor handle the mechanics for you, or if you’re experienced (or crazy) enough, hop in solo for an extra extreme ride. Either way, a paraglide ride is definitely a radical way to spend an afternoon.
Take on an Army in an Airsoft Battle Royale
If you’re one of the more grounded individuals, but still looking for that extreme rush, maybe you can try getting shot at. At the Warped Ops Airsoft Field in Castaic, CA, you can team up with a group and work to annihilate the other team. Life on a battlefield doesn’t get any more extreme, and an airsoft match doesn’t get much closer to it.
Go Off-Roading in Palm Springs or Speedway Faring in LA
Take an extreme ride through the deserts of Palm Springs, CA. Feel the wind in your hair as you drive carefree through the rolling sand dunes. Or bring a friend, and challenge them to a race across the sand. If bumps aren’t your thing, and you prefer speed, you can head over to the Auto Club Speedway in Los Angeles. Take a few laps around an oval track behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche, and put the pedal to the metal.
Take a Kayak Paddle Down the LA River
If a kayaking adventure is on your bucket list, the LA river is the place to go. Start in the Sepulveda Basin or Marsh Park in Elysian Valley in a kayak, and paddle your way down the LA river. If you don’t own a kayak, you can rent one from the nearby facility.
Train to be an Extreme Stunt Person
If you think you’re extreme, to the extreme, then why not make a life and career out of extreme-ness? At Stuntman University, you can hone your inner stunt person to perform dangerous (but safe) tricks in front of a camera. You’ll need health insurance for this job, for sure. After all, where else can you go to start a career based on falling out of a window, or setting yourself (safely) on fire? Build a whole career doing extreme stunts, and earn a good living by living in the extreme? Now that’s extreme.
Be Extreme, but Keep it Safe
Los Angeles is the place where almost anything can happen. And these extreme adventures prove that LA can make those experiences as crazy as you want them to be! However, always make sure to be safe when taking it to the extreme. And for goodness sake, make sure you have health insurance!
